upcoming new features


Hey,

Michael implemented the dynamic subdomaining function last weekend in our beta version of fsphost.com. It really works great and was a lot of work.

So if you will signup on our new page, you will get your subdomain, http://yourusername.fsphost.com which will allow you to share your stuff with your friends.

Now the main issues for the new of fsphost.com are fixed and there are only some small design and content issues. Hopefully we will be able to get the new web app online in the next two weeks.

I was busy as a beaver too and did a lot of frontend stuff on the beta page. I implememted some really nice Web 2.0 freatures like Error displaying without any reloads (javascript). There will be some more new great features and there also some more scheduled.


What would you like to see on the new page? What are features you would request? Would you like to get a beta account for testing the new page?

If there are enough request we will provide beta accounts with a longer livetime and other advantages.

Hey guys, I'd like to try out some of your beta stuff like subdomaining so hook me up if you still need testers. Also, you dont seem to allow hotlinking mp3 or wma files, only downloading. Is there a way to get around that other than converting everything to .wav?

you can simply archive them and so the are hotlinkable.

It's great that you would like to help us testing the new site. Simply write a short email to feedback [at] fsphost {dot} com so i will keep you in mind. When we release the first testing version you will be the first i will hook up.

Hi my name is Levi ,
I discover this host few week befor and i like it a lot , specialy that you don`t have pop up ads or banner ads , i hope will remain in this way in the future too ....
I would like too , to try the new version .
Will be better if will be with longer lifetime , my user was canceled 2 times because i forget to sign in ...:-)

Hi,

yes fsphost will stay banner and popup free, because we dont like this too. But we have to show up some advertising to pay the server rents (which are really not cheap).

We are discussing about increasing the lifetime of accounts. We will post all details and changes when the testing phase begins.

Please write a short email to feedback |at| fsphost |dot| com that you would like to try the beta stuff and i will keep that in mind to holla at you when we start testing the new site.

Hello,

It doesnt seem that .gz files can be downloaded. I have uploaded one VIA ftp and when I put the link in my browser It just redirects to the fsphost homepage, I am sure I have typed the link in Correctly.

As for .zip files, you are unable to download them directly. For example http://four.fsphost.com/example/file.zip If I type this into my browser I will have to be redirected to another page where I will have to click download, I find this very inconvenient. I have a program called Peerguardian 2 that Updates its Blocklists from a URL, and It cannot update since a link such as http://four.fsphost.com/example/file.zip will not work as you have to be redirected and have to click a download button. Any solution?

Hi,

sorry but there is no way to tweak the redirection. We have to do this to because fsphost is still a free service but the servers have to be paid. This is a lot of money every month and the advertising helps us to minimize the amount we have to pay for them.

Hey guys...

Loving the no ads and the new look....I'm definately down for the beta testing. :-D Oh, and if you need any help with any kind of graphic design work..just let me know, I'd be happy to help ya out, I know it's a hassle writing/fixing code for the site, THEN having to do image work for it. So really, I'd love to help in any way possible. :-)

thanks for your feedback. The beta testing will begin in a few weeks, when we finished our examinations (yeah we got a life beside fsphost hehe).

We will post all required information in the blog for those who emailed us.

So just write me a short mail to betatest {at} fsphost {dot} com with your desired username adn you will be involved.
